No. 9 Maryland field hockey travels to DC to face local rival

No. nine Maryland Field Hockey (6-2, B1G 1-1) opened the weekend up at Indiana trouncing the Hoosiers viii-2 in the Hoosiers first game in their new stadium. The Terps scored five unanswered goals including four goals in a v minute span in the first quarter later Indiana took a 1-0 lead 3 minutes into the game.

The scoring run was capped off past a Taylor Stonemason sweep shot while her dorsum faced the Hoosiers goalie.

"It wasn't like [Indiana'southward] goaltending was horrible, information technology was just a matter of great shot option," head bus Missy Meharg said.

Past the time the friction match concluded, 7 different Terps scored. Star freshman frontwards Promise Rose recorded 2 goals and 1 assist in her biggest game of the season to date.

"I know for the second goal I had, Emma [DeBerdine] dribbled information technology downwardly into a 2 5. 1 with the defenders, then information technology was just the goalie and just passing it around them worked," Rose said.

The Terps have now scored 14 goals over their concluding three matches while head coach Missy Meharg closes in on 600 career wins.

The Terps hope to go on their momentum into their match against local rival American (five-2, Patriot 1-0) on Sunday in D.C. at 3 p.1000.

The Eagles are currently riding a four game winning streak highlighted by a 3-2 double overtime victory confronting then No. 21 UMass at the Terrapin Invitational two weeks ago.

"We are taking this game with a tremendous amount of field of study, stability and low hazard," Meharg said. "Of class our assault and defensive penalization corner unit of measurement will contribute."

The American Eagles are led by midfielder Noor Coenen who leads the team with 5 goals and 2 assists and goalie Bryn Underwood who has started all vii games for the Eagles.

The Terps 14 goals over their last three matches is specially impressive because the Eagles take only scored 13 goals throughout the entire flavor so far.
